(Rating #797)

Tasted at YeHA! 2006 in Montreal. Dig the bottle! App: deep copper, a little cloudy, brownish. Aroma: mincemeat (spices, raisins, molasses and rum)... Palate: sl. sparkling carbonation, med. bodied and a little astringent. Flav.: see aroma, add kinda sweet, a little alcoholic and slightly tart. Buon.

Cloudy burgundy body with almost no head. Raisins and dark cherries on the nose. Typical semi-dark very fruity belgian strong ale, along the line of Chimay Rouge and so many others. Only this one is italian. Alcohol is well hidden behind the very fruity flavours (plums, raisins, etc.) and generously malted body and a touch of chocolate. A little pleasant sourness makes it feel a little less generic. Lively carbonation is appropriate to lighten up this otherwise heavy beer. Tasty but not very complex. Pleasant drink. Certainly a lot more pleasant than the real wandering entertainer christmas drink (noel du baladin) which is an old coffee in a styrofoam cup.

Bottle. Poured brown color with an average fizzy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Good complex fruit and malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet chocolate flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Very interesting beer.

Bottle. Dark ruby mahogony beer with a nice tan head. Yeasty, lemony aroma. Tart lemony (though tartness doesn’t last), spicy flavor with some underlying caramel. Medium bodied. Lemony finish that fades to herbal tones with some honey. Easy to drink. Smooth mouthfeel. Hides alcohol well. It’s different and I can see people either not liking it, or digging it.

Bottle. Dark brown with red notes and a huge khaki head. Rich chocolate and yeasty aroma with a hint of pepper. Bitter chocolate flavors, good balance, ending semi-dry.Some yeastiness. Warming alcohol, dry mouthfeel. Brewer Teo Musso shows craftmanship again.
