The Etruscan (262), Tuscany, Italy Mar 15, 2008 Off white foamy full lasting head. Cloudy orange colour. Aroma is malty with fruity (peach) and light spicy and sour notes. Flavour is fruity too with apricots tones, ending in a smooth fruity finish. Medium bodied. beerbuzzmontreal (2701), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 12, 2008 Pours a cloudy orange color with a thick, bubbly, offwhite head. Aroma and flavor of wood, fruits, spices and yeast. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. This is indeed a strange beer, I don’t know what this, but it’s interesting. Rastacouere (5270), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Nov 12, 2007 Cloudy deep golden pour. Rather lacy, lasting off-white head. Surpringly subtle nose, strongly yeasty, bready and tart, hinting at a Sangiovese barrel. Tea-like, citrusy, lemony palate with a certain chalkiness in the finish. Light-medium bodied whereas I expected beefier malts. Active carbonation. Really unique beer, certainly unclean. Listed here as a barley wine, but the yeastiness feels Belgian with its inherent mushroomy uncleanliness. A weird concept and an appealing name. I was thrilled to find this bottle in Italy when there were absolutely no ratings for it, but the experience did not quite live up to the hype I had created by myself, for myself – don’t try that at home. My notes are not too clear for this one. Very soft, yet complex beer. Cheese? Yes, I would think that this would be a great match for a creamy gorgonzola. Lots of subtle flavour here, frutia nd berries. Grapefruit. larsga (2149), Oslo, Norway Oct 28, 2007 Medium offwhite head. Hazy orange body with suspended yeast particles and carbonation. Sweet firm malty vaguely smoky fruity aroma. Dry smoky fruity malty soapy taste with herbal notes. Vaguely acidic. Malty wooden aftertaste. Not bad, but not great, either. (0.75l bottle at Isola della Birra.)
