Commercial Description:
The masterpiece of the brewery. The beer that mostly encountered the favour among the customers at Le Baladin. Although one wouldn't believe that, it's the most alcoholic among all the productions. It originated from an old recipe created toward the end of the '800 following the style of the belgian abbey beers. Intense aroma of warm flowers, apricot and banana and hints of bitter almond. Agreeable, refreshing and quenching taste of apricot in syrup, almond cake and citrus fruits. Excellent the use of belgian selected hop during the fermentation process. This beer matches perfectly with ripen cheeses, biscuits and almond sweets.

From a good looking bottle purchased at Belmont Station in PDX, OR--Poured a very very hazy orange-copper body with an initially big but quickly dissipated head. Well carbonated body with a thin vinous mildly floral nose. Citrusy and yeasty. Quite mild; alcohol is well masked. Very nice beer to open for New Years Eve!

Bottle. Fruity and floral aromas, along with a bit of caramel. Color is sort of apricot and the white head stayed awhile, though it did not lace. Full bodied with fizzy/creamy carbonation. Starts a little citric sour, some light stone fruits, touch of funk. The finish is dry, nigh astringent, with some citrus and a moderate amount of hop bitter. Leaves my mouth rather tingly. It just gets better as time proceeds.

Bottle, bought @ YNWA, Kolding. Pours a hazy orange with loads of small particles floating around. Head is foamy, fizzy, slightly geyish and frankly, rather unappealing. Aroma is caramel, fruity orange tartness. Some exotic fruits as well and a dose of yeast. High carbonation. Flavour is surprising compared to the aroma, thus is musky, barnyard, light tart. The fruitiness is subdued, matured and relatively mild. Alcohol is nowhere to be found. Extremely balanced, nowhere near pretty, but rather nice.

When I purchased this beer I was under the assumption (from the store owner) that it was a sour ale. Well, I guess it was a little sour, but in no way was this the Flemish sour I was looking for. Overall I thought it was drinkable but the light sour mixed with the heavier Belgian strong ale influences (fruit, yeast, etc) just did not work for me. I was looking for refreshing and got interesting.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, light burn suger / caramel, fruiy sweet. Flavor is heavy sweet with a average duration. 750ml Bottle. Pours an amber red in color with yeast hovering near the bottom after settling. With sweet malt, apple, caramel, cinnamon, nuttiness, plum, marmalade jelly, and perfume on the nose. This beer does an average job of translating these appetizing notes. The palate is medium bodied. The flavor is a tad sour, but soon turns sweet with bitter fruit notes. Overall, the nose is more pleasing than the actual taste. Well, for me, that is.

Thin offwhite head quickly disappears. Amber body. Fruity caramelly aroma with mild sweetish notes. Dense licorice and cocos taste with herbal caramelly notes. No real aftertaste. Nice! One of the best Italian micros so far. (0.3l draft at Isola della Birra.)
