Nose on this held hints of fuzzy fruits, golden raisin, spices, pear, and grains, with lighter tones of cooked apple. Flavor was fruity, lightly sweetened, with a decent hop bitterness rounding it out. Full bodied, light carbonation, spiced pear and raisin finish. Nice, but nothing phenomenal...

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 22, 2005 First of all, this was the hardest beer of my life so far to open. I questioned the power of my pathetic opener. Anyway, pours a golden orange color. Very thick beer, couldn’t even see through the glass. Smells sorta like bananas. For me the flavor was just ok, despite how complex it was. This was really really sweet, but the alcohol was also noticeable. It was $13 (which is lower than others here) and was still grossly overpriced. I guess it’s worth trying, but definitely not for rebuying (it rhymes). hopscotch (5474), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2005 Bottle... Murky, caramel colored ale with a mid-sized, creamy, off-white head. Flemish nose... lemon and wood. Tastes a bit like brand new Tupperware with a caramel chaser. A touch grassy. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Lengthy, sweet finish with a whisper of mango at the very end. Overall, not a bad brew, but it’s a little too sweet for me. Spendy too, at around $15 per bottle. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 10, 2005 This is a fine example of a belgian abbey-style ale with rich aromas and flavors of dark fruit. Well balanced and recommended except for the price- around $14 or $15 if I remember. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 3, 2005 Floral, lightly phenolic, icing sugar, doughy, lightly spicy, lavender, vanilla, marzipan aroma. Opaque tan-brown with a shy white head that recedes quickly to a light ring. Plenty of yeast in suspension. Very floral and malty with a strong vanilla character. Peppery, spruce-like spices emerge more in the finish along with a black tea, tannin leafiness that lasts on the tongue. Fruity orange-pineapple-cherry notes. Medium body with fair carbonation. Bottle enjoyed with beerbuzzmontreal, MartinT, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Yowie. OlivierMTL (711), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2005 Updated: May 3, 2005Couleur ambrée tirant vers l’oranger, orné d’une faible mousse brune pale pleinement diminuante.
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2005 Hazy orangey amber color with a ring of white lace. Aroma of dough, yeast, spices and alcohol. Flavor of dough, yeast and spices. Light to medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation. Rastacouere (5553), Montréal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 1, 2005 Cloudy amber. An off-white ring doesn’t last on top of it. Very doughy aroma. This yeast strain of theirs sure does create interesting flavours. On top of that, the super possesses a great self-assurance in aroma that would make it recognizable among a dozen of similar products. Rich biscuity malt, maybe chocolatey even is loaded with marzipan, almonds and wood. Heathery yellow apple skins comes out powdery and make me think of the quintessential bakes fruits salad. Strong yeastiness, highly carbonated. Light-medium body could use some weight perhaps, but this remains remarkable stuff.
