| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 29, 2009 750mL bottle, don’t see a date on it. Poured bright, fiery orange with a rather short cap of white head.. didn’t look great overall, but the color and clarity were there. The aroma opened with a huge dose of maple syrup that threw me off.. aged caramel rolled in and supported apricot, banana, and peppery yeast character.. smelled thick and syrupy (if smells can carry those textures). The flavor had caramel, toffee, and brown sugar at the core with a blend of light and darker fruits surrounding.. yeast gave a white peppery kick, but the sweetness kept it at bay.. fruit skin sourness with a resiny texture was laced throughout.. the sourness was refreshing on the otherwise sweet finish. Medium-plus bodied with a thick texture on the palate.. balance was quite good, and this brew grew on me as it progressed. Very good stuff. Miksu (2218), Jyväskylä, Finland
