Commercial Description:
The masterpiece of the brewery. The beer that mostly encountered the favour among the customers at Le Baladin. Although one wouldn't believe that, it's the most alcoholic among all the productions. It originated from an old recipe created toward the end of the '800 following the style of the belgian abbey beers. Intense aroma of warm flowers, apricot and banana and hints of bitter almond. Agreeable, refreshing and quenching taste of apricot in syrup, almond cake and citrus fruits. Excellent the use of belgian selected hop during the fermentation process. This beer matches perfectly with ripen cheeses, biscuits and almond sweets.

very deep golden color, thick and creamy white head....lasting, no lacing though. aroma is very vinous, lots of buttery chardonnay notes, oak barrel notes, and an earthy grapey quality, flavor is not all that vinous, somewhat earthy, a little spicy in the finish, flavor is not all that much like the aroma...night and day. there are mild fruity and caramel in the flavor as well....interesting enough.

Strong fruity and floral aroma. Flavour is apricot like but this has much more bitterness than most Belgian Strongs or dubbels.

75 cl bottle. Dark orangey-amber, some haziness, medium-sized offwhite head. Fruity aroma, a bit sour. Sour fruit flavours, alcoholic, doughy, Christmas pudding flavours. Full body, almost crunchy, warming alcohol. A nice winter warmer from Italy.

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Hazy orange body. Caramel honey aroma and flavor with low carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste.

Draft. Pours a hazy crimson with an off white head. Chery wheat noes, some fig and raisins. A tart fruit body with a modest warming. Some caramel malts and a light tart finish. Decent.

750 shared. Hazy tangerine body with fast fading off-white head. Flavor - ripe sweet plums and other fruit, some alcohol, clove, and spice. Smells like aroma but much more muted. Medium light body with fine low carbonation - nice feel. Overall: good, but not worth the price.

Amber color; creamy big head. Malty aroma, and quite sweet malty flavor. Too yeasty. Ok, but quite simple.

2002-09-10, bottle, 7-4-7-4-15=37
Amber colour, hazy. Light aroma, some alcohol. Lightly fruity when warmer.
Pretty sweet, but the body structure is not convincing; some malt, too much alcohol, fruity, dry banana. Too sweet. Strong bitter final.
The note improves when the beer warms a little (alternative evaluation, first impression 5-4-6-4-13), the aroma is fruitier and so the flavour, but forget any complexity!
I will soon try the bottled version.
They claim it was presented at the GBBF-2002 as the best Italian beer; my suggestion is: go and try the Birrificio Italiano Tipopils.
