Poured bright, fiery orange with a rather short cap of white head.. didn’t look great overall, but the color and clarity were there. The aroma opened with a huge dose of maple syrup that threw me off.. aged caramel rolled in and supported apricot, banana, and peppery yeast character.. smelled thick and syrupy (if smells can carry those textures). The flavor had caramel, toffee, and brown sugar at the core with a blend of light and darker fruits surrounding.. yeast gave a white peppery kick, but the sweetness kept it at bay.. fruit skin sourness with a resiny texture was laced throughout.. the sourness was refreshing on the otherwise sweet finish. Medium-plus bodied with a thick texture on the palate.. balance was quite good, and this brew grew on me as it progressed. Very good stuff. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Well balanced and recommended except for the price- around $14 or $15 if I remember. doublebock (198), USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge whitish head and an intense pillar of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. The aroma has quite a bit of tangerine, some raisin, a little bit of bread, and some faint earthy alcohol. The flavor is quite well balanced, with some cookies, flowers, zest, honeycomb, and maybe a bit of cedar. The finish is quite subtle, including sugar, raw flowers, and an earthiness that holds over into the aftertaste. While far from the best constructed of this style, this is very very drinkable. Well carbonated body with a thin vinous mildly floral nose. Citrusy and yeasty. Quite mild; alcohol is well masked.
