mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA Mar 18, 2009 I split a big bottle of Baladin Wayan Vieille Cuvée at Brunch with Graham, Tara and Rebecca at House in Manhattan. This saison was the perfect pair for a mid morning order of steak and eggs. The appearance is a cloudy yellow / orange with a small / medium head. The aroma and flavor have notes of corriander and various fruits while the finish leaves a nice bready feel in the mouth. Comments: Fresh, wheaty, spicy example with a refreshing citrusy acidity and various fruity undertones. Refreshing, but not too complex.
JorisPPattyn (5146), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 1, 2007 Huge, but fast disappearing just off-white head. Cloudy orange-green beer; Faint coriander, clover, and fresh Belgian white bread. Very spicy, herbal, but with orange/citrus hints for a slight acidity. Soft mineral spring water quality, light on body and alcohol. Good! Despite the characteristics it’s rather a witbier to me. Thankfully very refreshing, easy-drinking if not really great. The Etruscan (304), Tuscany, Italy Aug 12, 2005 White weak head. Dark golden/light amber color. Aroma is moderately sweet with fruity (apricots), spicy and light sour notes. Flavor is fruity too with pear, pineapple, citrus tones, ending in a sweet, slightly sour finish. Light to medium bodied. Dorqui (1353), Brescia, Italy Jul 20, 2005 Orange clearly color, enough limpid and of medium fizz. Sweet-and-sour and pleasant scent. Notes of orange and peel of lemon, slightly spicy and spiced. Fresh taste, little alcoholic, moderate bitter and balanced. Rumors of clear orange and melon. Pungent and crisp. Lightly sourish finish. malika (37), Switzerland Apr 15, 2005 Dark blond color. Some coriander aroma, very spicy. Citrus fruits flavor, very perfumy, strong coriander, poor hopping. Short finish, with a delicate sourness. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Apr 6, 2005 Cloudy golden color. Dry hops aroma, very much Belgian; light sourness, almost fruity. Well balanced beer, with some sourness, sweetness, fruitness; some astringency and citrus fruits. Pleasant and very interesting. Bov (5403), Bienne, Switzerland Apr 2, 2005 hazy pale orange colour with yeast particules floating within, fine head, aroma of orange zest, vinegar and yeast, creamy mouthfeel, touch of sourness, light to medium-bodied, long dry and fresh acidic/sour finish - far more complex than the "normal" Wayan - thanks to fiulijn
