| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Burgundy colored, no head even with a violent pour. Aroma has strong notes of port. Sweet malts with a fruity oak balance. Enjoyable but obviously not worth the price tag. sebletitje (1925), Tampa, Florida, USA

2004 bottle.
Finally found a somewhat more affordable version of Utopias for 1/2 the abv.
Pours light reddish-amber no head and some sticky golden lacing.
Aroma is boozy and loaded with caramel, brown sugar, but it remains overly sweet.
Taste, sweet drinks like a sweet liquor with plenty of brown sugar, caramel, light notes of fruits (pear) and some subtle chestnut toward the finish. Light body.
Slow sipper, this is one amazing brew. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 4, 2008 A copper color with virtually no head. The aroma consists of alcohol, dark fruit, and some brandy notes. The flavor consists of maple syrup, honey, sherry, and grapes. A very warming beer but not as sweet as I had imagined. Overall this was a very nice barleywine. Beerdedone (1885), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma was sweet and boozy with dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, port, and has a hint of brown sugar. Flavor was silky smooth and quite sweet with caramel, brown sugar, dried fruit, raisins, port and alcohol with a sticky full body. Decent but to expensive. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2009 This reddish mahogany beer poured with no head at all. There is an overwhelming fruity aroma. There is a very sweet malty flavor that is port-like. There is also a strong but pleasant alcohol trail at the finish. Tastes of date, chocolate and maple dominate the complex flavor. This is a good sipping beer. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2007 Pours a amber brown with no head. very syrupy looking, almost like a mead. The nose was big caramel and molasses, almost has some saki characters to it. The taste is still pretty smooth even for how big of a beer it is. Definitely get some honey and caramel in the taste. Pretty sweet. Has some mead characters to it, especially in the body. I’d like to try this one after it ages some.
