Aroma of sherry, raisins, molasses, wood and a whiff of alcohol. Flavor was fairly sweet, with lots of dark dried fruits, brown sugar, sherry, caramel malt with a warming alcohol finish. Definitely a slow sipping beer to be enjoyed on a cold night by a warm fire. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2009 This reddish mahogany beer poured with no head at all. There is an overwhelming fruity aroma. There is a very sweet malty flavor that is port-like. There is also a strong but pleasant alcohol trail at the finish. Tastes of date, chocolate and maple dominate the complex flavor. This is a good sipping beer. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

Smells so sweet, like liquid candy and ripe dark fruit. Plum rasin, and glucose is everywhere in this beer. Thickly coats your mouth with lots of fruit sugar. after4ever (2839), Brier, Washington, USA

One of the most complex, pleasant, and interesting beers that ever overwhelmed me with sugar. Loved it, but couldn’t finish it. My fault for opening on a hot day. Be warned. Pours a murky dark brown with bright caramel highlights. Headless, laceless, leggy, oily, sticky. Body’s super oily and sticky on the tongue. Oranges, sweet grape juice, caramel, toffee. Big thick sticky body, wow. Very sugary sweet--lots of complex flavors behind all that sugar. Could probably cellar for decades. fonefan (11891), VestJylland, Denmark
