It pours a mostly transparent brownish-orange with lots of fine sediment and a few scant bubbles and a ring around the edge of the glass. The flavor is very malty. It starts with a sugary combination if caramel, molasses, and caramel. The some faint fruitiness in the background. The finish has some hints of raisin, apple, cinnamon, and alcohol. the aroma would lead you to believe it would be much hotter. Full bodied with minimal carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. Abit too sweet, very port-like without the tongue drying that wine does. A little alcohol that kind of makes the effect of capsaicin. Very thick and uncarbonated feel to it. Kind of like a sweet wine all around. Good if you like wine. Skyview (4057), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

Pours a clear dark copper brew, thick and syrupy with no head. Aroma of rich caramel, fruity character, some aged wood, raisined prunes and plenty of alcohol to burn the nose. Taste is oily, thick, no carbonation with flavors of rich caramel malt, some brown sugar and a touch of molasses. Finish is strong alcohol warmth with a sticky caramel malt flavor. A decent sipper barley wine. Beershine (2710), Traipsing Around, Cambodia

Not sure how I forgot to enter in this rating (although quite a few brews were presented @ the Hellbilly Tasting!!! Maple syrup pour with absolutely no head and minimal carbonation. Amazingly sweet...caramel, molasses, raisin, vanilla, and maybe even a hint of chocolate. Coats the palate like varnish on oak...interesting. ManvsCity (103), Redmond, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 14, 2009 2005 bottle pours with no head and little to no carbonation in the cloudy amber/brown body. Aroma is very close to Grand Marnier - apples, spice, oranges, cinnamon, cognac, oak. There’s a fair amount of maltiness in the taste, dried fruits, toasted sugars, and a thickness like brandy. Any hop bitterness has long since faded to just sweet floral notes. Dry woody aftertaste. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Updated: Dec 20, 2005The pour shows clear orange, flat and headless. Upon first sniff, whiffs of vegetal alcohol take over the nose, strongly woody and orangey. Huge fruitiness adds a truly sherryish nature in the form of concentrated pumpkins, melon and mango. The cask wood influence is neat, adding an oily, rich and meaty influence that is attenuated a bit by soy sauce hints. Sweet candi sugar is also hurt a bit by the vegetal saltiness. For 13% though, its alcohol is very well contained while the bitterness remains totally under control. Flat and slick bodied, very full. Interesting and original take, fully grainy and extracted, but not among my favourites. Thank you Lorenzo.
