I was very surprised. It was quite cheap ($2.49 for a six-pack). It looked and smelled like any other cheap beer.
But it actually had some bite to it. A unique flavor and a gritty, somewhat hoppy after-taste. I would buy this again, if I could find it, and find it this cheap. This stuff is made by Pabst-ala-Miller, yet I’ve never seen it here in Milwaukee. What gives?
It’s not a great brew, but it is a good cheap brew. Get it? Not too shabby! iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA

One of the last of simple non-micro American ales. Some hoppiness, good golden hue - try one cause your grandad did! beaconstreet (811), Washington DC, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 21, 2004 Nice gruffness that brushes the throat, but if you're not into throat masochism, maybe this beer ain't for you. A hoppy flourish to be sure, and crisp golden color. As cheap beers go, I'd say its not bad. DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Apr 4, 2004 Bottle. But first a quick rant: what exactly does the phrase "America's largest selling ale" mean? I certainly doubt that this is has the greatest sales of all American ales, nor is it particularly large...Now for the beer. Brutally pungent skunk aroma, maybe some hops, cannibus. Flavor is tolerable, hints of corn, sticky and sweet finish. Drinkable but at the minimum level. obxdude10 (1562), Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 3, 2004 Bought a bottle of this at the new Citizens Back Park in Philly, not all that bad of a beer, but very light in body & carbonation, not a whole lot to this, golden color, decent bubbly white head, a slight hop scent in the aroma, a bit of a hoppy flavor & a little on the hoppy side, dry finish, a nice beer to just hang out & watch a ball game but not one that you would want in your house on a regular basis

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 18, 2004 Big white head with a light, straw gold body. Aroma is malty and grassy. Flavor has more grassiness, light hops and some sweetness. Finishes dry and earthy. Like ClarkVV stated, this is actually pretty decent. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 18, 2004 Tried this solely because I wanted to be like Hunter S Thompson. Surprisingly not that bad at all. A decent flavor, some hops to speak of and not skunky. Though it's not anything great, don't get me wrong. Very golden and sparkly, small white head, aroma of club soda and light hops.
