I definitely get some hops in the nose sweet uncomplicated malt flavor. Ridiculously long finish: almost cloying. There is something very cool about this beer--it would be my beer of choice in the pre-micro world. I wish they'd bring back their India Pale Ale. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | May 29, 2003 A very hoppy mainstream ale. Skunky-sweet aromas, bitter throughout, little malt character. Not nearly as good as the Ballantine India Pale Ale I used to buy. adamcbowman (57), Bowling Green, Ohio, USA

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw this in a store called the Party Source, and it was in bottles. Great tasting ale, and goes down smoothly and sharply a slight skunkiness but it goes away quickly, a nice forgoten brew. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Feb 3, 2003 As New York Yankees announcer Mel Allen used to say, "Flash the three ring sign and ask the man for Ballantine!" Although a simple ale, it's quite refreshing, with fruity/spicy hop presence and a lingering dryness. A little skunked because of the green bottle, but a very quaffable beverage.
