It’s a light bodied beer with a cool, clean, crisp taste. It has a somewhat fruity flavor and aroma. Hops are noticable. Dry finish. One of my favorite canned beers. And probably the best beer in the Pabst line.
I am not 100% on this, but I think bottled Ballantine is brewed by Lion Brewery and cans are brewed by Miller. raymow (738), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA

| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Jan 13, 2003 Pale yellow color with a thin white head and little lace. Sour malt aroma with a touch of sweetness. Sweet malty flavor with a touch of hoppiness. Tastes somewhat like a mass produced lager. Light to medium bodied and a little dry. | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 10, 2003 A bit skunky on the aroma - like a cheap Beck’s. Clean, clear appearance - more like a pilsener than a Blonde - in flavor as well as appearance. Points for the puzzle under the bottle cap - nifty! Not bad for the price - $1.89 for a 22 oz. Every now and then it is good to drink one of these old classics. Aurelius (2652), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

If you’ve ever driven down a south Georgia two-lane in the summer without air conditioning, then you’ve smelled Ballantine’s in the green bottle. Sweetish, slightly tart. Actually went down pretty smooth. Mouthfeel was solid. The smell really killed this one for me. Supaflyfresh99 (98), E.Williston, New York, USA

At thirty-five cents a can this beer was worth every penny. I could actually taste and smell hops. Reminded me of Yuengling’s Lord Chesterfield Ale (which is a good thing).
