17th April 2008 Pale amber in colour - malty nose and a malty taste but with enough of fruity zing to keep it interesting. Easy going beer.

Cask (Guide Dog, Southampton) - Brown with some orange tinges. Roasted aroma with hints of caramel, chocolate and coffee. The taste is nutty with more roasted notes featuring caramel and chocolate. Enjoyable.

Cask conditioned at Hydes Tavern, Winchester. Chestnut brown with white head. Rich, nutty, caramel flavours, very smooth with a background chocolate character. There is a slight sweetness in a late fruitiness, a cracking Mild I reckon.

On gravity at Reading Beer Festival, 01/05/09. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Roasty, dark chocolate aroma. Flavour had some fruity sweetness, with more chocolate and a vaguely roasty finish. Ok.

Cask at the Nags Head, Reading. Tar black with a loose cream head; roasted malt aroma; sweet chocolate malt flavours with a gentle bitterness. An excellent flavoursome mild.

The Crown, Nuneaton. Vinous red wine aroma. Opens with faintly mulled cinnamon or clove, vinous gluhbier and grapeskin, sour buttery oak. Red fruit, lingering nuttiness. Strangely festive, fruity mild.

Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Rich brown, bit of off-whte head. Sour, salty, metallic aroma, a little toast and grapes. Flavor is along the same line, but really heavy on the sour/metalic. Palate is nice. Flavors are not.
