rerate at the 11th. Malty up front, with a spicy back, a vast improvement. very tasty I had this on tap at the brewery’s 10th anniversary celebration. This is a dark amber pour with some maltiness. Not a big beer, but tasty.

Tap, O’Brien’s. Pours a brownish color. Kind of like watered down Coke. Stong roasty aroma with malts and a little chocolate. Rich roasted malt/chocolate flavors. Finish is malty and bitter.

Pint on tap@t Ballast Point Old Grove brewery: Deep amber, the color of rootbeer, with a small (bar pour) light beige head. Aroma is sweet malty caramel. Flavor starts caramel sweet balanced perfectly by a spicy hop bitterness in the finish. Medium body is smooth with moderate carbonation.

Tasted during the San Diego Fesival of Beer. Nice sample of an Octokerfest. Lots of malty spicy aromas. Similar flavor. Nice and smooth. Maybe one of my favorite of the style.

On tap at the homebrew shop. Amber color. Small/microbubble head. Nice malty aroma. Tastes leans sweet. A hair of odd hop bitterness and some esters. Nice with pizza or cheese.

On-tap at HomeBrew Mart. Pours brown, slightly red with a moderate white head, good lace. Smells dark and malty crisp, haven’t smelled a beer quite like it, slightly sour, slightly smokey. Tastes slightly metallic, slightly like black licorice, and malty as well. Medium body with good carbonation.
