Aroma - Big blast of Northwest hops with all the citrus and pine, but underneath that assault lurks some inviting malt aromas of caramel, toffee, and fruit.
Appearance - Healthy white head over an orange/amber pour, moderate sticky lace.
Flavor - Good balance between a solid sweet malt base and a building grapefruit bitterness.
Palate - Medium body and carbonation, satisfying mouthfeel that is resinous, dry, with a lingering bitter finish.
Overall - A fine example of the the now ubiquitous West Coast IPA. If a brewery in CA, OR, or WA can’t make a respectable IPA by now, they need to shut their doors forever. Ballast Point nails this one pretty well. Hophead heaven it is very floral with alot of zest. Explodes a bit on the palate but finishes smooth little sticky. Beautiful orange body somewhat caramel but I found it more yeasty at the finish little citrussy. Great IPA. MarthaPromise (15), Illinois, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 16, 2008 Pours a nice amber-copper color with frothy head that dissipates quickly. Nose of grapefruit and other citrus, caramel and roasted malts, and slight floral notes. Flavor contains lots of nice lemon and grapefruit zest, slight herbal notes, and some sweet dark fruit and slight bready malts. Tons of great cascade bitterness, but hop complexity takes this one to another level. Medium bodied and a nice dry finish. Great Ipa. zombywoof (358), Shawnee, Kansas, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden honey-like amber, with a solid stand of white head. Sweet floral aroma with plenty of sappy citrusy and piney hops. The flavor is also sweet and floral with a nicely balanced blend of mostly aromatic hops. Generally sweet, but with a mildly dry finish; very smooth. Medium, slightly syrupy body; moderate to moderately low carbonation. Super smooth and flavorful, medium strength IPA; a standout in a crowded field. fonefan (11710), VestJylland, Denmark

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 13, 2008 12oz bottle. Attractive aroma of citrusy/sprucy hops and subdued malty caramel. There was also a whiff of mango. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was off white and reduced after about a minute to a lasting film. Some lace was left behind on the glass. medium bodied, delicately sweet and a little fruity with moderate hop bitterness of about 6 out of 10. Citrus fruits dominated the flavor with only a bit of caramel in the background. Good IPA.
