Nice hoppy taste and bite to it. A bit of a chalky finish to me and it becomes more and more soapy as it warms. Not really bitter, but rather, it is perky. A happy hoppy IPA. wetherel (1627), Encinitas, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 20, 2007 Tried from tap at Ballast Point’s 11th anniversary celebration. Light amber color. Nice microbubble head. Medium hoppy aroma. Large grapefruit hop bittering. Leans more toward more bittering hops than aroma hops. Medium body. Less than average drinkability, but I don’t know why. kramer (2465), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 16, 2007 22 oz bottle, via fordest. Pours a clear dark gold to light copper under a fizzy foamy one finger beige head. Light fine bubbled visible carbonation. A nice grapefruity hop nose with an underlying light caramel and toasted maltiness. The hops take charge on the flavor with a heavy bitterness level. Lots of centennial going on here. A slight toffee maltiness evens things out nicely. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slight resiny hop stickiness that combines with the sweet malt to leave a long lingering finish. Overall, a nice IPA. Very solid. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2007 22oz bottle from jarspag. Aroma: Light caramel maltiness up front; Pine, floral, and citrus hoppiness. Appearance: Light amber in color and hazy. Off-white head was full and foamy with great retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Slightly sweet caramel maltiness with a touch of toasted nuts and bread. Hops kick in nicely with notes of pine, grapefruit, pineapple, floral, and light grass. Nice bitterness that builds but never overwhelms. Dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: A nice ’west coast’ IPA. Plenty of hop flavor and aroma.
