Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

22oz bomber. Pours black with a one finger tan head. Decent retention and lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Flavors are sweet malt up front with chocolate and a semi bitter coffee finish. Palate is a bit thin.

Black with a red hue, and a lasting off-white head. Some chocolate in the aroma with unusual hops for a porter giving peach and other fruity notes - this is distinctly American hops, and they work well with the soft chocolate. Rather dry with a friendly chocolate and licorice flavour. There is a burnt note in the finish and aftertaste. Hop flavour stays in the background but there is clearly a lot of hop bitterness for a porter.

Bottle. High creamy light brown and long lasting head. Clear but very dark ruby body Strange sour aroma of coffee and choccolate. Flavor also a bit sour coffee choccolate. Low carbonation, short aftertaste. I guess the sourness is from the hops and do not quite understand it. Feels quite misplaced.

Bomber from VinensVerden, Odense. Pours nearly black with a small creamy brown head and lacings. Nose is roasted coffee and chocolate. Somehow moderate and very inviting. Very smooth and soft palate. Taste has chocolate, coffee and a hint of dark fruits. Vague ashy notes. Well balanced and overall super drinkable!

Pours a dark black with a creamy pale tan head. The nose is earthy, more in the English direction, alcohol, caramel, no roast, some coffee, herbal hops. The flavor is hoppy, has an English feel as well, interesting, very mild bitterness, some diacetyl, caramel, some coffee. The palate has a mild waxy bitterness.
