Bitter chocolate dominates the flavor, a little dusty. Not bad. unclemike (833), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 1, 2008 Poured a dark brown with a small tan head. Nose was pretty choco-roasty, a little fruity. Taste is classic roasted malt with appropriate hop bitterness as backup. Initially I didn’t notice, but this one has quite a carbonation issue---a bit too much. The hops never quite make a statement in this...a bit too sweet in the end. .

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 19, 2008 22 oz. bottle in trade from Snojerk321-thanks! Served in pint glass- poured non transparent when held to light black, low carbonation with tiny bubbles, tan ring around the glass for a head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, darkened caramel, and roasted malt. Hits the mouth with a wide body, malt has a smoke quality to it which makes it just that much more enjoyable, some cream in the middle, finish is bitter and slowly fades away. Nice, very nice. Aroma is pretty mild but I smell some roasted malt and a light sweetness. Flavor is a nice combination of roasted malt with some dark chocolate. I don’t detect much in terms of hops. The mouthfeel is outstanding. It’s just creamy and velvety and rolls around your tongue. Aftertaste is roasty and even a bit smokey. Very good. yespr (12429), Copenhagen O, Denmark
