Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

22oz bomber courtesy of Weeheavy! Pours a murky brown color with a small tan head. Nose is deeply roasted, sour lactic (hersheys chocolate) and some fruits. Initial taste of roasted malts and hints of chocolate. Mid palate displays some smoke. Finishing with good balancing hops and dark malts. Palate duration is about average. Some head retention. Light to medium body. Easy drinking.

Dark brown tan head. Chocolate and roast in the aroma along with some earthy hops. Nice roast with a mild caramel malt sweetness that combines very well with the roast. Lightly hopped; they give off a light earthy bitterness. Solid.

On tap @ Stone. Pours black with solid tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, and some chocolate. Could sense the coffee, and chocolate in the taste as well. Little smoky. Was a very nice Porter.

Pours a deep dark black with a frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and toffee notes. Flavor is right on with a a coffee and dry malt finish. A good beer.

22oz bottle, courtesy of Ughsmash. Thanks, Jason! Pours a dark cola-brown color; huge, textured khaki head with solid retention and lacing. Pleasant amounts of roasted malts, cocoa, and creamy vanilla-tinged malts in the aroma; nothing harsh or burnt here. Medium mouthfeel: roasted / lightly charred malts, bitter chocolate and citrus, with a creamy, biscuity core; very pleasant texture, reasonably hopped, with a solid, layered maltiness. Very drinkable and well-composed. Medium finish: lots of breadiness, bitter chocolate and some lingering mineral hops.

Bottle Thanks to beastiefan2k: Deep brown with a khaki film for head. Nose has dark fudge, and light milky notes. Medium body with a nice dark malt character. Chocolate, dark cocoa and later mocha notes with a roasted balancing finish. A solid Porter.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for this one. Dark brown black beer with a thin head. Aroma is quite sweet and plummy. Dark malts, chewy and lightly fruity. Quite coffeeish and roasty, with strong herbal notes and some light molasses sweetness. Earthy and herbal on the back, but with a good balance of sweet and roast. Even a bit of tartness on the back.
