Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

This black bodied stout pours with a tan head and gives off a chocolaty aroma with perhaps hints of caramel and coffee. The flavor glides over your tongue with a slightly oil texture and leaves a subtle bitter finish. While it’s not nearly my favorite stout it is an enjoyable beer with respectable chocolate malt character.

Nearly opaque black body with a small tan head. Coffee, chocolate, caramel, maple, and roasted nut in the aroma. The flavor presents some nice nutty chocolate notes with a slightly bittersweet finish. Respectable.

Black beer with afew amber hints against the light; loose tan head that leaves a litttle lacing. Smells of dark roast coffee, some chocolate. Taste has the same elements and a hoppiness that doesn’t quite blend in - not bad but just not quite completely satisfying. Smooth but a little lacking in the rich texture that I expect in this style. Perhaps this would do well with a little time in the bottle. The hops just stick out a litle bit and make the whole thing slightly disharmonious,

Chocolate aroma with dark roasted malt accompaniment. Dark brown, near opaque, color with a beige/tan head that quickly did some ring lacing. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavor is really roasted malt, near toasted/burnt. Coffee notes heading towards espresso. The finish is dry with some hop bitter to go along with all that malt. Exceptionally tasty.

Very dark brown, not black, with a thin tan head. Aroma is a light smokiness, bacon grease, ciggarettes and charred wood. Taste is a bit smoky with chocolate, light caramel.

on tap-pours a dissipating tan head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/cocoa powder, also surprisingly thin/watery, oatmeal? After warming watery disappears and caramel/molasses comes out. Taste is dark malt-chocolate/cocoa powder, caramel/molasses, secondary earthy hops. Occasional.

Very dark brown color with a thin head. A little chocolate and roast on the nose. Almost some oak. Dark chocolate and lots of roasted barley dominate the flavor. Mild piney hop bitterness. Fairly simple, but damn tasty.

Flavor is very sweet; lots of caramel, adn chocolate that well overpower the bitterness. Very smooth finish. Rich.
