Dark mahogany colour. Aroma was dry fruit, liquorish, rye bread. Over the palate hint of coffee and chocolate could be detected. Medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Moderated sweet malty flavour with hint of some toasted bitter notes. Nice malty sweet and lingering finish. boboski (1095), Alabama, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 16, 2007 Nearly black pour, some deep garnet at the perimeter. Fizzy tan bubbles form a slight resemblance of a head but fade to an oily ring shortly thereafter. Rich notes of peaty malts, smokiness, caramel candies, Milk Duds, Raisinettes...as a matter of fact, the more I smell this beer the more I feel like I’m at the movies. Toasted grain character is recoiling; so shy that only with drastic increases in temperature are the notes visible. Flavor is mostly chocolate and caramel. Very malty, achieving and sustaining a fantastic balance between bitterness and sweetness. Toffee and fruit notes provide the bulk of the afterthought. Acidity is present throughout, in low levels. Finish is a touch chalky, lingering with a resounding sweet caramel and slight marshmallw flavor. A rusty metallic component intrudes near the finale. Mouthfeel is well carbonated and medium bodied, very slightly sticky. Pretty good. Very easy to drink, though a touch syrupy nearing room temperature. Nejhleader (930), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2007 Updated: Aug 10, 2007Courtesy The_Epeeist. Pours an oily black with a light white head. Smell is a little smoky, rich chocolate, and some dark fruit mixed in as well. Quite roasty too. Taste has a lot of toasted malts, dark chocolate, and just a touch of some dark berry fruit, especially in the finish. The aftertaste is a little bitter, but leaves a nice fulfilling chocolate coating on the back ofthe throat. Pretty nicely balanced. SledgeJr (2970), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Chocolate malted milk/ Whoppers aroma. Strong sweet chocolate candy bar milky flavor. A very good beer. The hops are plentiful in the boil, but not in the finish. They use the word assertive twice in the same sentence on the label. So Cally. brettpace (179), Northridge, California, USA
