Aroma of bakers chocolate, roasted malt and some vinous elements. Flavor of dark chocolate, toffee and roasted malt. Decent body roasty throughout with a dry finish. Would’ve enjoyed this one more had I been a bit more coherent, pretty solid stuff though. sliffy (2012), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Pours a deep brown with red highlights and a very small head. The beer has a nice roasty aroma, lots of chocolate, some coffee, quite a bit of vanilla bean (not bourbon-vanilla, but rather vanilla bean vanilla), and definitely notes of smoky peat. The flavor is somewhat sweet, molassas atop roast coffee, mingled with the smokiness of a nice scotch ale. Despite the rather sweet early flavor, this one is adequately dry on the finish. The flavors are quite intense for the ABV; I would have called this at closer to 6.5%.
Very nice. This is a first rate porter albeit deviating somewhat from the classic interpretation of the style.
Revisit 8/09 in Santa Barbara. Rating above stands. Very nice aroma, almost traditional --- hoppier, drier flavor with an obvious San Diego touch.

Chocolate, Smoke, Roasted malts, mollasess and some acidity from coffe beans. A bit watered down but smooth and with medium head retention. Not the best Porter ive had. Dry finish with prickly carbonation. GreatLibations (1447), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 6, 2006 Pours porter brown w/ a shallow creamy froth. Aromas of leathered dark cocoa w/ a slight whiff of pine. Medium nectar w/ soft residual effers. Roasted flavors are in balance. Predominant bakers cocoa w/ moderate malt. Not too dry. Hints of fruit w/ leather, roasted coffee bean, cigar, and slightly roasted caramel. The finish is long with perfect bittering. I love this stuff. Good cold or not so cold. Overall: well balanced with bright flavors. This one gives Fullers London Porter a run for the money. Highly recommended. Schultsc (483), Henderson, Nevada, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 16, 2006 Opaque brown-black color with a fine milk chocolate head. I detected a slight ester profile atop strong roasted chocolate malt aromas with a bit of dark berry/cherry fruit. A slight bit of smokiness at first in the flavor with coffee and an underlying grain character. Light body overall with a nice creaminess and bitterness from both hops and roasted malt. realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2006 22oz bottle poured black in color with little to no head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, caramel and some small coffee notes. The taste was very rich for a porter with no noticeable bitterness. I think more bittering hops would help this beer score higher.
