Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

More of a deep red color than you would expect. Slightly sweet with a hint of chocolate with a slightly bitter finish. Not a great porter but a good one. thanks kp

Deep dark brown color with a nice tan head that settles quickly. Very light malt aroma. Flavor is coffee and choclate. Not much hop aroma, but the just the right amount of bitterness for a porter. Thin to medium body. A good beer.

Pretty standard porter. A brownish black appearance with a strong coffee aroma. The body is rather thin with the usual crew of flavas....chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Some licorice in the finish. Not bad

Very dark ruby. Large, big-bubbled head. The aroma is lightly malty aroma. Thin body, touch of nuttiness, light cocoa. Not really the most exciting porter in the world.

Deep brown color with a creamy lasting head. Had it at the brewery at the grand opening party for their 2nd location. light coffee aroma was not overwhelming. Very smooth with a lingering smokey chocolate taste. This was a beer I could drink more than one of.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a reddish tinge and a small cocoa colored head. Roasty/chocolate aroma with sweet malt. Sweet malt flavor with some fruitiness. Nothing harsh - easy to drink. Nice balance.

pour has a peaky froth which gives a nice mustasche.firsts taste of dark roasted coffee, then gives way to a nice combination of smoke and hops. went well with a hearty marinara.very satisfying

Draft - notes from early Dec tasting. Deep brown pour with ruby notes, and a decent head. Roasty coffee aroma with some chocolate and some citrusy hops. Similar roasty coffee flavors, with a bit more chocolate than in the aroma, with some medium fruits. Decent, and not over-the-top.
