Apr 29, 2009 750 ml. Pours coffee-black with little to no head, leaving just a thin lace around the edges of the glass. Aroma is licorice and a complex wood with nails in it smell. Wonderful smokey, full mouthfeel, but flavor is obscured in some way. Roasted coffee and bitterness prevale on second and third tastings. Not tasting the chocolate that other have mentioned. Nice porter. I’d definitely drink it again.

Apr 28, 2009 (Bottle at Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki, on 2009-04-24) Almost black. Quite quickly disappearing, medium sized and lightly tan coloured head. Metallicness and liquorice in aroma. Medium bodied and dry palate with medium carbonation. Roastedness, ash, coffee, bitterness, liquorice and hint of chocolate in taste. Ash and bitterness in aftertaste.

Apr 22, 2009 Pours a very dark brown. Some light seeps through. Some roasted malt and chocolate in the aroma. This one seems a little thin and despite a decent roast malt and mocha presence there’s a metallic finish that sort messes things up a bit. I guess it’s decent.

Apr 21, 2009 Bottled. Deep reddish brown coloured. Dense and creamy light brown head. Aroma of roast, fruits, light spices, light chocolate and some vague herbal notes. Flavour is full of bitter chocolate, roast and has a herbal touch. Medium to full bodied. Dry. Ends on a roasty bitterness, which last surprisingly long. Quite smooth and balanced.
