Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Black Marlin Porter is a rich dark chocolaty Porter with a distinctive American hop character. It is nitrogen dispensed which gives it a creamy texture, thick head and a balanced flavor that is reminiscent of traditional British cask conditioned ales. It is a great beer to go with hearty foods and is surprisingly one of the few beers that goes well with dessert.

Tap at the brewery. Deep dark pour, great nose and very smooth and easy to drink, Ballast Point never dissapoints.

It is black-brown with a red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate and dark fruit. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, dark fruits and the finish has a roasted, light bitterness. It is uncomplicated, charming and nice to drink.

Slightly thin body. Aroma of cocoa and mocha. Slightly sour/tart finish. Nice all around.

Nice, rich porter. Deep color with light brown head. Malty chocoloate mixed with hops comprises most of both the aroma and taste. Enjoyable.

Roasty and hoppy. A RIS dialed way down that lets the hops really come through, Very drinkable, but definitely a West Coast Porter (if the term existed.) Another winner from Ballast Point, although maybe a little odd for the ’style.’ Definitely not something you’d find on tap at an English pub,

aroma is very weak with lack of decent aroma. taste is weak yet effective enough. to have a couple. lack of standard porter flavor that makes this outstanding. but it is drinkable.

The aroma is dusty and chocolaty with toasted malt and metal. The appearance is dark brown with a large head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is a little thin. Overall not too bad but not too good either.

Had this a number of times and have always consistently enjoyed it whether on tap or ubiquitously in bottle all around SD. Its a high quality rich porter thats relatively sessionable.
