| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 17, 2008 draft at homebrew mart location - samples alongside the regular version; thin, dark brown with almost no head and little carbonation; aromas of sweet vanilla and a healthy dose of barrel sourness; an odd sourness dominates the flavors and the base beer is all but gone; pretty disappointing nbutler11 (754), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Pours like the standard Marlin from the tap at the brewery but with no discernable head. Brimming with bourbon vanilla and sweet molasses with faint smoke. A hint flat but easily the finest beer of theirs Ive had on tap so far. Well done. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Tap at the tasting room. Very dark black beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is pretty solid. Cocoa and chocolate with a soft vanilla/bourbon character in the nose. A light oaky sweetness that accentuates the cocoa and roast of the base beer. Even a soft fruitiness that works pretty well in here. Earthy with a noticable hoppiness. Nice brew. Hophead22 (1090), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 28, 2008 From the Growler and shared with Padrefan and toncatcher. Nice wooden oak aromas with some metallic dustiness. Flavors were vanilla sweetness with hints of bourbon and more wood. Decent dusty porter flavor as well. Pretty tasty stuff. Earlier Rating: 1/17/2008 Total Score: 4 Draft at O’Brien’s. Darkest pour with decent head. Lots of wood and chocolate and coffee aromas. Flavors were more wood, a bit of tart, and some more roasted maltiness. Coffee and chocolate still came through. I really liked this one.
