Naven (864), Poway, California, USA Sep 23, 2009 On tap @ main tap tavern. Yellow, hazy, fizzy pour. Flavor of wheat, grains, yeast. Very light, peppery hops. Sadly, this kind of reminded me of a macro lager. Very boring, to be honest. sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Aug 26, 2009 Bottle at Chris´grill party. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a small off-white diminishing head. Light sweetness and sourness. Some grainy malt aromas. Light grassy hopsnotes. Some yeast and pepper notes too. Medium bodied with a slightly oily mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Bitter finish. brianjames1 (322), Northridge, California, USA Aug 24, 2009 great beer for a great cause. on tap at brewery. light bodied saison with spicy yeast flavor. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 7, 2009 DC Gathering, bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. Murky unfiltered orange-tan color. Minimal, lacy head. Seawater bitterness in the aroma, quite complex. Very mellow mouthfeel coupled with a rich herby, spicy, earthiness. Bitter citrus notes. Deep and complex beer with lots of subtle nuances. Somewhat sugary, but in a quality way. Captures, and almost manages to improve upon, the hard to nail down Saison. afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2009 On tap at The Devil’s Den, served in a tulip glass. Gold with a mostly diminishing head. Teh smell was tart, spicy, peppery with notes of apple and apricot. The flavor is perfumey and tart with a dried fruit character. It was good and very drinkable but seemed to be lacking something that I can’t quite put my finger on. Papsoe (14642), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 27, 2009 On tap. Clear golden with an off-white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit and spices. Medium body, sweetish fruity and yeasty with a spicy edge. No real bitterness. 080709 yespr (11644), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jul 22, 2009 From tap at Pizza Port in Solana Beach. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is light peppery saison yeasty. Dry yeasty and subdued malt flavoured. Light spiced yeasty base flavour. Ends smooth with a persisting yeasty touch and subdued bitterness. SamGamgee (1396), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA Jul 9, 2009 Draught at the brewery. Clear gold with a small head. Aroma of some spices, lemon and oranges. The flavor is dry and bready with some spicy pepper and other spice. I’m getting quite a few things, but they seem to muddle and cancel each-other out. Light on body with lots of carbonation. I’d love to have this out of a bottle; I think that the conditioning could add some nice nuance, on-tap this was a bit messy.
