Commercial Description:
Ballast Point Brother Levonian Saison is named for the late Dave Levonian, a San Diegan who was a great homebrewer, an avid beer enthusiast and generally just a really good person. Ballast Point is donating all of the money from the beer to his daughter’s college fund.

Had on tap at Ballast point with DuffmanSW and mspindler. Very smooth refreshing easy to drink saison. Would be perfect on a hot summer day. Had a very mild yellowish color to it with fruits and spices in the taste.

Pint on tap at the Scripps Ranch Brewery: Hazy yellowish-golden color with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity with some wheat and spice. Flavor starts honey sweet followed by tropical fruit, citrus, some yeast and a peppery spicy bite ending in a fairly dry finish. Light-medium body is crisp and refreshing with lively carbonation. Cheers Brother Dave.

On Tap @ BP (Linda Vista) - Pours a clear golden color with with a thin off white head. Light lacing. Aroma is esters, spice, a touch of yeast, and lightly sweetened malt. Flavor is much of the same. Light to medium body. A nice beer.

Tap at Blind Lady. Glad to see this come back around. I missed it the first time some how. Pours orange copper with a tan ring. Nose is very spiced. Taste is spiced and decent.

On tap at the Old Grove location, served by the lovely Amber. Kind of a light gold pour. Crisp aroma, somewhat sweet, but not overly so. Taste was similar, sweet, slight spice, very easy to drink. Pretty tasty.

On draft at Hamilton’s. Appearance is a murky bright orange hue, fair amount of white foam dissipates to a ring, watery lacing. Smell is a delicious range of fruits and spices, honeysuckle, orange blossom, light malts, honey, cotton candy, hints of cinnamon, pepper, light fruits, and hops. Taste is an initial push of sweet malts and fruits and spice, opens up to sweet honey and vanilla, finishes thick and sweet. Medium-bodied, fairly thick texture, lively carbonation a touch on the high side. Drinkability is high, this is one flavorful saison bursting with taste and amazing aromas, great example of the style.

Sample at San Diego Brewing Company. This beer is the same recipe as San Diego’s Summer Lover. The beer is a clear golden color with a thin off-white head that dissipates quickly. Thin rings of lacing. The aroma is sweet bananas, spices and yeast. Light-bodied with a soft and sweet mouthfeel. Fruity and spicy with notes of bananas and clove, as well as some yeast and malt. The finish is fruity with a lingering spice aftertaste. Pretty good all around.
