Draft from BP, early Dec 05 tasting. Nitro. Opaque black with creamy beige head. Medium roasty malt aroma, with notes of dark fruits and chocolate and coffee. Similar flavors - moderate amounts of roasty malts, chocolate, coffee, and more dark fruits with distinctive plum notes. Creamy mouthfeel.

OPaque black with a large rocky dark tan head. Served on nitrogen with CO2. Roast malt and vanilla in the aroma. Milk chocolate, vanilla and hints of coffee bean. Slight roastiness in the finish. Body is medium heavy and very smooth.

2003 vintage on tap at O’Briens: Pours a nearly opaque, very dark brown with a dense, frothy, dark tan nitro head. Aroma is milk chocolatey with a hint of tartness and cream. Starts nicely subtly sweet with good mild dark caramel and light fruitiness. There are hints of tartness in the body, but not too strong, heading toward a dark chocolatey finish. An interesting imperial stout, but could be thicker.

Draft. 2003 Keg. Nitro. Black beer with a big beige nitro head. Chocolate aroma with a little roastiness. Big chocolate flavor with soe underlying roastiness and licorice. Some alcohol warming at the end. Very smooth - velvety mouthfeel. Great chocolate flavor - this is what Young’s Double Chocolate should be

Draft at brewery. Rubbery, plastic cocoa nice with mid licorice tones. Moderatly opaque dark brown/mahogany with a light tan head. Big roasty chocolateness to start. Very roasty and warming. Alcohol not overly detectable, though. Good work. Too bad the aroma is a little off.

This brew pours witha black body topped by a medium thick head with lots of lacing. The aroma is sweet yet roasty and malty with a slight coffee note. The flavor is slightly sweet yet bitter with roasty notes and a touch of coffee. Full bodied, smooth and a touch dry.
