22 oz bottle obtained via trade. Pours a deep golden color with a moderate white head that faded quickly. Aroma is all hops, citrus mainly with some light floral and pine. Flavor is very citric and piney, and is maybe just a slight bit too boozy, which is unusual in a DIPA. Light malt in flavor too, but mostly just a hop bomb. I preferred the Sculpin I had for sure.

22oz bottle. Dark golden with medium off white head. Nice citrus hop aroma. Taste screams deep caramel malts most of the way through, then finishes with a bitterness that balances well. Hop flavor mingles with the malts and is quite enjoyable, but pure hop flavor is pretty subdued.

On tap at the brewery in San Diego. Pours a crystal clear, lighter orange body with a thicker, foamy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves lots of nice, layered lacing. Aroma is sweet citrus and very floral. Lots of perfume hoppiness. Some sweet caramels as well. Flavor is similar and very tasty. Lots of floral and sweet hops with a very nice balancing caramel. Some peachy flavors and a little resiny, slightly sour candy taste as well. Palate is medium bodied and finishes sugary sweet and dry with a long lingering taste. Overall, a very solid DIPA. Nothing too out there, but well balanced and tasty.

On tap at the Toronado SD. Pours with a hazed golden body and a white head. Aroma of pine, citrus hops, apricot and floral notes. Taste is herbal and citrus hops upfront with caramel and a near candi sugar sweetness. Lively carbonation and a water like mouthfeel. Finishes on the drier side of the spectrum (residual sugars wise).

Pours very beautiful gold amber with about just shy of an inch of head. On the aroma I get very floral hops, citrus, along with other floral aromas. On the palate you get a strong yet well put together amount of hops, strong citrus in there as well indicative of the classic west coast double, bitter flavor in there as well. One thing I am liking about this one is that nothing seems to be overpowering anything else. Smooth as well. Hops staying around on the palate and the citrus is lingering as well.

Tasting at a beerfest [Disclaimer: This was tasted along with many, many other beers during a tasting at Julios. Some of the details are a little hazy]. Hop Heaven

I found this too be way too sweet. Citrus and grapefruit abound, but the sickly sweet malts proved too much for me. It’s not bad at all, but was hard to down the whole thing. Also, the alcohol was too noticeable for me.
