Bottle thanks to Snojerk321. Pours a nice golden amber with a white frothy head. Nose is very much C-hops, not particularly San Diego Style, though does seem comparable to Sculpin, but bigger. Some nice malt notes come through as well. Taste is pretty astringently bitter with citrus and grapefruit, as well as a sweet and malty aspect. Pretty big IIPA, though not what I was expecting. Still, pretty damn tasty.

I think I will need to rerate this at some point. I know there is something good going on here, but it didn’t quite hit me. Its reasonably malty for the style, with a sharp bitterness. Lots of citrus hops, but seemed a little one dimensional? will come back to this

22 oz bomber thanks to padrefan98, thanks Jon. Nice amber body with an average size white head. Aroma is big on the citrus hops but shows complexity and balance. Fairly well hidden ABV on this one with a smooth body and average carbonation. Flavor has lots of grapefruit, citrus, caramel malts and a touch of fruitiness. Very nicely done but so far 2009 has been the year of the DIPA and this one just doens’t stand up to the likes of Double Trouble and the new king Hop Stoopid.

Courtesy WeeHeavySD. Pours a clear amber-orange body with a small, foamy off white head that quickly fades away leaving some spots of lacing in the glass. The aroma is really nice and surprised me with all the fruit smells of orange, tangering, grapefruit, and mango. Each smell produces fresh fruit and hop bitterness to go with the toasted caramel base. The flavor is again very fruity with orange, tangerine, and mango coming through with the sweet toasted caramel malt in the background. Orange, grapefruit, and resinous piney hops add ample bitterness. There is also a smooth, vanilla cream present to smooth things out and add nice depth. This just had really great flavors pushing through showing great balance. Medium to full bodied with a chewy and creamy mouthfeel and very easy drinking. Very smooth with a lingering fruity and bittersweet finish from the hops. I think this is my new favorite IIPA. Awesome brew.

Bottled(@Opus K,Lohja,Finland) The colour is hazily orange at the bottom of the glass and yellow with a tint of green at the surface, kind of a mix of colors. Head is quite large, partially lasting and it leaves a little lacing. Indeed, very tropically fruity aroma has pineapple and mango. It is also very sweet and deep with some bitter, piney hops. Nicely hopped flavor is sweetly fruity, peachy, slightly alcoholic, caramel malty and rounded. Both the aroma and flavor are really good, but they lack the little nuances that would make them perfect, or near perfect. In the aftertaste, there’s some soft and really long, bitter hop presence. Lightly carbonated and quite thick, almost too thick, on the palate. Nice beer, anyways.

Aroma: A lot of hop pellets/ dog food pellets and caramel showing up. Flavor and palate: Full bodied. Strong bitterness. Not subtle at all. Overall impression: Decent.

22oz bottle thanks to my man smokepot23. Pours a light orange hue with a big old foamy white head. The aroma suggests greatness; heavy citrus hops, like grapefruit times ten. Oh boy, the flavor is awesome; super rich citrus hops, grapefruit, so juicy and strong. There is some nice caramel malts, but really who cares this beer is all about the hops. A rich and creamy mouthfeel. Awesome. One of the best IPAs I’ve had. Wow. Oh, and I’ll add there is no notice of a near 10% ABV.
