burnt orange pour. frothy white head that left lacing indefinitely -- well, until I washed the glass anyway. aroma of hops, grapefruit, lemon, pineapple and malt. toasted grain up front then citrus and grass. finished with a hot hop bitterness. Not my favorite DIPA, but a fine beer.

Thanks to hummm....forget who I got this from someone in the SD area. Pours out a nice copper color with a moderate slightly off white head. Aroma is of grapefruit and citrus hops, slight malt. Taste is hoppy, citrus and grapefruit being dominant, slight malty taste for balance. Very solid double IPA....gets another impression point for the label, dorado (dolphin) is a great fish to catch and eat.

From South Bay. Same hop/malt profile as dreadnaught just not as peachy and complex. Really fantastic.

Pours amber with a rocky white head. Smells of perfume, citrus, caramel, hints of dough. Tastes of oranges, some bitterness, some earthy hints. Mouthfeel is thick with a finish that is semi sweet.

tap at the brewery - Pours copper with an average sized white head that lingers and leaves lots of lacing. The aroma is big on the citrus hops and grapefruit really comes through in the hop dominated flavor. It’s full bodied, fairly well balanced, and has the expected long, bitter finish. Nice beer.

It’s between this brew and summer Yulesmith for my favorite DiPA of all-time. Pours a nice honey orange color. A bit cloudy but not totally. Nice sticky, frothy head. Laces the glass a bit. Smells like hop syrup. Sweet and sour and hoppy, citrusy. Tastes grassy sweet and citrusy. Nice lemon grapefruit type citrus flavors, nice and bitter but sweet at the same time. Palate is kind of thick and syrupy, but sweet enough to be smooth. Ok carbonation. Tasty and drinkable but high alcohol so watch out.

Interesting that the theme for this month’s meeting of the Champaign-Urbana (IL) Beer Club was "Beer That Your Dark Lord Hasn’t Had." That usually brings out lots of stouts and barleywines, my two favorites. This time there was a preponderance of IPAs and Double/Imperial IPAs and you’ll get no complaints from me. They were excellent. This hazy amber beer with a frothy white head gave off aromas of hops and malt in a more balanced sense but with the grapefruit hops having the edge. The bitterness was not overpowering thanks to malt that could hold its own. It finished with a pleasant bitterness. Good stuff.
