Huge hop aromas, pine, resin, citrus, mmmmmmmm. Big malt presence in the nose as well, notes of caramel and sweetness. Big malt and hop presence in flavor, nicely balanced between the citrus and caramel flavors. Full syrupy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden and very drinkable for 9.6% ABV. Lasting bitter finish. Great Beer! tupalev (2618), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, and GregClow, blankboy’s bottle. Lovely fresh hop aroma - very strong. Medium orange, small white head. Great hoppy, fruity taste - almost tropical! Citrus pineapple gives this double a welcome unique taste while still knocking your bitter socks off. Long bitter linger. A great beer. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA

Incredible nose on this one -- powerful, fresh, flowery, juicy, leafy, citric, lightly sweet and fruity with notes of pineapple, grapefruit and honey, some faintly doughy yeast touches here and there. All very enticing. Pale, cloudy amber color with a lasting, fine head. Massively hoppy flavor profile, but features a pleasantly sweet, sufficiently countering malt backbone, with big pine flavors, resins, tropical and citric fruits, leaving a lightly sticky, creamy palate and a big, full body. Very drinkable and flavorful, incredibly well-balanced. This is a very refined DIPA. franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Pours a cystal clear golden orange with minimal head. Smells of big ol hops, piney and grapefruit. Taste starts with minimal malt then a burst of huge bittering hops and grapefruit. Medium in the mouth with great carbonation. ABV is non existant yet the hops arent overpowering and the malt is minimal and not heavy. A hophead’s dream but drink this one fresh as I had an older bottle once and the age did not do it well. omhper (12299), Stockholm, Sweden
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2007 Bottled. Almost clear pale amber, creamy head. Concentrated lychee aroma. Sweet and softly malty with lovely seemless aromatic hop character. Alcohol is evident, perhaps too much so, giving it notes of peach brandy. The powerful hops add not only lychee but also extreme bitterness and soem cocoa. Excellent, but their Big Eye IPA is even better. ucusty (1915), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Slighty hazy & gold. wonderful head and lacing. Citrus hops on the nose. Sweet caramel malt slowly giving way to citrus and hops. very fruity flavor. well balanced! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottle (22oz). Courtesy of blankboy, shared with GregClow and tupalev. Hoppy, eh? Bring it own!!! Hazy light orange, decent frothy off-white rocky head. Bright, sharp aroma - thinly sweet, hugely hoppy, but tight, tight, tight - leafy, grapefruit zest, sweet malt - F me, I’m loving those big hops - sweet malt, huge bitter hops, resin, citrus, pineapple - just really good - the alcohol is a little disguised. Average body, good astringency, mild carbonation - LONG bitter back-tongue linger. Great DIPA. Sad that it’s gone. Gregis (1135), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 10, 2007 Bottle shared by theisti at Indra’s tasting 12/7. Pours a cloudy tangerine with a thin cap of white, creamy head which diminishes to a small ring clinging to the edges of the glass. The nose is a beautiful bouquet of sweet citric hops, melon and caramel. Very nice. Medium-bodied and slick, almost creamy, with a dry bitter finish. A sweet caramel malt front is a well-balanced counterpoint to the big, citrus flavor of the hops. A very tasty brew and probably the most quaffable IIPA that I’ve sampled to date. Thanks, Tim, for sharing this gem with us!
