Drank it while deep sea fishing in La Pepeshka with rcasta. Pours a deep golden with tan head. Medium bodied, nice balance of malts and hopiness flavors of pine and citrus.

22 oz bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a small sticky white head. Big aroma of hops, typical Pac NW scents, citrus, floral, pine, there is a bit of malt and alcohol way back in there too. The flavor is a great balance of sweet and bitter, not as bitter as the aroma would make you think though. Medium body with average carbonation and a slightly dry finish. This is a really great IIPA, the alcohol is hidden really well and the hops really come though in the aroma and flavor without too much bitterness.

Not typically a fan of IPA’s but this Double IPA is amazing. For it’s high alcohol content the bitterness is not really present at all. Great aftertaste.

I love Ballast Point, but this one was a slight letdown. Appearance is great - bright orange color, no haze, off-white head, and laces well. Nose is great with mixed citrus, but a focus towards grapefruit. Palate offers a whollop of both hops and malt, some biscuity caramel flavors in there, but mostly edgy sharp hop bite. Finish is sharp too with a subtle lingering sweetness.

7/23/2009: Ballast Point Dorado Double I.P.A. smells like a freshly peeled and juiced tangerine. It tastes mildly sweet with some underlying toasty malt and a cornucopia of citrus hops flavors dominating, including: tangerine, orange, and red grapefruit peel. The beer is orange in color with a beige head, medium body, and good mouthfeel. This is an excellent DIPA.

650 ml bottle (9.1% Alcohol by Volume) shared by alexsdad09. Thanks Brad! Rating #384 for this beer.

Gently hazy, beautiful darkish golden pour topped by an off-white (yellow-leaning) foam which rapidly diminishes, but leaves an honest cover. Brutal citric nose where a fair dose of residual sugars come across in an honeyed, biscuity form. Coniferous, flowery nuances mostly avoid the resinous side. In mouth, more honey comes across, this is quite sweet, but the bitterness is sharp and slices through it with professionalism. Medium and tight body with soft, mostly big-bubbled carbonation. Citrusy enough to feel juicy, grapefruity, rindy, but also peach-like? litchi-like?. It develops a fair bit of citric acids which feel rough against the bitterness. Long finish which is preceded and followed by a considerable dose of alcohol, both warming and in the taste. Quite an archetypal example, though the excessive alcohol bothers me. My bottle indicates 9.1%, so I’m changing the ABV back from 9.6%.

The best beer Ive ever had, on tap at the Roadhouse Bar and Grill, if you like their big eye IPA, this is a little more hoppy, and very seay to drink, cut the head off a nice chili by the way.
