Tap, O’Brien’s (09/15/06). Pours a brownish amber color. Aroma is fruity and sour. Some tart vinous qualities, like a white zin. Very tart flavoring. Some sour apple going on. Finish is quite tart. Biting finish.

Tap @ BP 10th Anniversary Celebration. Deep golden color, clear, small white head, no lace. Aroma of nail polish, honey, and flowers. Body is medium with light, foamy carbonation and a moderately dry finish. A touch syrupy, a touch watery. Flavor...SOUR!!! Salt, vinegar, spoiled vegetable matter. My mouth started watering like a sieve and if I didn’t sip it, my eyes would have watered just the same. I had difficulty drinking this one.

This should say "Hout Sour Ale." On Tap at Ballast’s 10th Anniv. Wow, interesting aroma of vinegar and wine. It looks like a pale ale with a clear golden color and white head but sure doesn’t smell like one. Strong vinegar smell backed up by a bit of malt. The flavor is similar to the smell with strong vinegar, sourness, tartness and tough for me to drink. Not really my bag.

I’m glad I finally got a chance to sample this one. On draft at Home BrewMart location. Pours gorgeous dark reddish mahogany color with a small pinkish-white head. Nice sour dry aroma with hints of fruit, tart raspberries and wet wool. Flavor is sour, dry, nice and complex with fruity notes, an oakiness as well with tart berry in the finish. Lifht to medium body and crisp, tingly carbonation. Quite nice overall!

Draft. Murky dark red-orange with a thin film of pinkish head. Candy sweet aroma with some tannin. Candy reaspberry with tinges of almond. Some vanilla and ruit skin astringency in the finish with a mild tartness. Mouthfeel is medium heavy, fairly sticky. Not sour, not even particularly tart.

Tap at O’Briens. Murky brownish orange with no head at all served in a De Koninck glass. Aroma is mostly just sour green apple. Taste is really sour with some tartness that stings the roof of the mouth. Not dry enough to take some of the sting away though. A really nice, unexpected beer from BP.

The aroma was full of citrus, flowers, and light fermented fruit w/ a slight hint of spice. The flavor was soury fermented fruit, a malty sweetness, slight vinious note and citrus. The beer poured a purple/reddish brown color w/ reddish orange highlights; no head and thin lacing. The mouthfeel was aggressive and tart w/ great effervescence and a light body.
