jerc (3071), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 18, 2008 2008-04-18. Black body with a huge tan head and lacing. (4+) Lightly acidic roasty aroma, mild mocha notes. Similar roast in the flavour is not as bitter as it might be, pleasantly so, malty base. Light bitter roast lingers in the finish. Average plus palate is nice, but on the average side for a stout. Solid. Bottle from SDBruboy
yespr (6000), Copenhagen O, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 From tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours dark brown to black with a light redish glare and a lacing off-white head. Roasted and fruity aroma. Flavour is hard roasted malt but also mild acidic to citric fruity flavour. Ends with a mild roasted and acidic fruity finish. Lovely. dmac (815), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Aug 5, 2008 22 oz bottle shared at BCTC 2008. Pours a great looking pitch black with a large creamy beige head. Biggy hoppy aroma for a stout but also had the usual aromas of chocolate, raosted malts, slightly burnt notes and some syrup as well. The body on this one had stingy carbonation that was distracting. Flavor of burnt malts, sweet chocolate but with a slightly acidic finish. Nice beer and would of rated higher if it wasn’t for the overcarbonation issue. mabel (1391), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 4, 2008 [1308-20080418] 22floz bottle. Dark cofffee sweet roast aroma with chocolate booze notes. Dark dark brown black body pours a big creamy light tan foam. Coffee flavour without the bitter roast, some smoky notes and slightly sweet dark roast malt with a sweet aftertaste. Full body. Interesting -- it’s no monster rearing it’s head but it’s interesting.
(w/ blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc, tupalev) illinismitty (1361), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2008 Sampled at Brewery for RBSG. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of dark roast and red wine (currants) with a slight hint of funkiness. Flavors are interesting, with a blend of dry coffee and dark fruits, accenting by a slight tang. Slightly different, but well done. bsierra (154), Vista, California, USA Jul 31, 2008 On tap at Backstreet Brewery Vista Pours opaque with creamy tan head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, oatmeal, prune, currant, tobacco, grassy and herbal hop vapours. The taste starts with a nice coffee and hop bitterness balanced against heavy chocolate malts. Slightly fruity and herbal as well. The mouth feel is rich but still vibrant, dry finish. Really liked this one!
