MaltDawg (369), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2008 12 oz bottle at Capital Ale House Downtown. Clear light golden with aroma of light grainey malts. Grainy malt and light honey flavors with some fruity yeast character. Bit of spicey hops.
Medium to light body with low carbonation. Finish is moderately dry with a lot of bready character. Bitterness is there and is pushing a pale ale, but I would still classify this as a Kolsch.
Trooper11 (452), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Oct 13, 2008 deep caramel malty aroma. Golden yellow brew with an average size foamy white head. Bitter bourbon woody flavor, deeeeep burn with vanilla notes.Extreme dry. Nutty aftertaste. Narnad (117), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Oct 6, 2008 Comes from the glass a yellow-orange with not much head. Aroma is of acidic apple and a very floral hops scent. Flavor is a bit corny with some grassy hops and a slight sour flavor. Very boring and nothing outstanding here.
Lagunitasfan (63), San Diego, California, USA Oct 4, 2008 22 oz bottle. Bummer. Not quite a drain pour, but a total disappointment. Aroma is small, bitter. Chunky head fell quickly. Tastes of grass and peanutbutter. Bland and thin. Bummed. Wulfstan (481), California, USA Sep 21, 2008 This is a nice kolsch-type beer. Faintly hazy golden amber, it has a medium off-white head steadily shrinking to a thin ring and wisps. The smell is nice, grain, bread, citrus, grapefruit, hints of honey, pine. In taste, it is light but very tasty, with grain, crackers, citrus, 7-up, hints of grass and pine. It has light sweetness with bitterness in good balance. It’s \quite refreshing and clean. ethomson (35), Huntington Beach, California, USA Sep 20, 2008 Pours a thin watered down golden. Barely and head or foam to my pour. Very bitter, very strong hops. Basically gross, not very much fun here.
