Commercial Description:
Ballydooly Red is a full-strength cider and possibly the best cider to help you kiss the Blarney Stone or even the mother in law.

This bottle was actually labelled as 6.0% ABV. Served in a 400 ml. tumbler. Sherry!! This smells like a nice sherry and the initial taste was much the same...that nice warm sherry feel was very much in evidence. Leaves a slightly sticky feel on the tongue. A nice clear appearance which resembles a very light orange-brown water. A definite repeat purchase.

(On tap) Clear, golden with almost no head. Somewhat astringent apple aroma. Medium-bodied with a high carbonation. Lightly tart apple notes with a lightly astringent, leathery touch. Ends lightly acidic. The most authentic in the Ballydooly range. 200208

on tap in dunedin at a pub which also had a lot of emersons but i forgot the name of. this has made me interested in ciders. mineral water appearance - obviously no peel in there. starts sweet and sickly but then has some moderate rotten apple tartness. very soft texture. champagne-like with a syruppy apple aroma. we used tennis balls when i was a little tacker

ok, i know nothing about ciders but this one did surprise me. it had a tasty taint of gueuzelike funk going on, like the juice that used to spray up onto my face when i used to hit the rotten apples off my grandparents' tree with a tennis racket onto the neighbour's rooves when i was a little tacker in adelaide. it looks exactly like sprite. mouthfeel is smooth and soft, and then champagne-yeasty at the finish.
