Quite unusual and interesting spice lager. Perhaps, it's not my kind of beer, but I will never forget it. Clear golden appearance, poor head, lovely spicy aroma, grassy (to say the least) palate. Funny.

A very interesting beer. Aroma from pepper, and some other spices. Flavour from marzipan and bitter almond.

Golden. Fine creamy head. Spicy peppery aroma. Interesting flavor of marzipan. Slight bitter in the end. This high rating cod of the attempt to brew something different.

Bottled. Straw colour, moderate head and condition. Well at least it looks like beer. Rollercoaster ride of aromas starting with marzipan followed by a peppery herbal note that turns to curry powder and finally settles on chicken skin. In the mouth there is still some marzipan noticable but anything else is drowned out by chicken stock. Did not linger long enough in my mouth for any judgement on aftertaste that sretches beyond one sylable.

Almond extract is evident in both the aroma and flavor. Unlike Baltika's other numbered beers, which are in ascending order with beer strength, #10 is only 5.2% ABV. The almond, and apparently basil, provide a uniqueness in a beer that I have not tried. A pretty decent effort and recommended if you can get your hands on this limited release.
