Syrupy and bready roasted malt nose. Syrup on the flavor also with some roasted malts, sugar, caramel and quite upfront alcohol. A bit vinous even. Pretty uninteresting, but solid. A bit too sweet and alcoholy. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA

Pours clear brown with a minimal off-white head. Caramel, molasses, and dough inthe nose. Watery taste of the same, except with a bitter metallic bite that goes away as the beer warms. Nothing special. WillieV (191), Maryland, USA

Scent of something sweet and a pretty strong hint of alcohol. Taste is like an almost over ripened fruit (due to a mild bitter sweetness) jredmond (1040), New Jersey, USA

Flavor is thin and sweet with a dominating caramel flavor; some rye breadiness in there as well. Not much in the way of hoppiness. Pretty tasty and easy drinking. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2008 Nice aroma of caramel malts, bread dough. The appearance is attractive, a nice copper/red color, clear. Nice white head. Very sweet, malty flavor, very low hop signature. Nice sweetness on palate. Excellent beer overall. It is hard to find the even numbered Baltic beers, but it has been worth the effort. ilovedarkbeer (1365), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 27, 2008 The malts that Baltika uses are really great. Pours a brown color with beautiful reddish highlights. Head was massive when poured into a weizen. Nose is chocolate lots of caramel, and bread, maybe some rye. Taste is nice and smooth, sweet but not overly cloying, and the rye makes for a really nice finish. High marks for this dunkel the mouthfeel is somewhat watery and there is a little bit of a bitter back taste. I like it.
