| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2007 beer poured a red brown in color with a tall head that quickly diminished. smell is of grains, malts, and some light caramel. taste is mid range on the mouth feel, has some malts, and something sweet (perhaps the maltose syrup)? not a terrible beer, not too heavy, somewhat bland. puboflyons (622), New Hampshire, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Expiration date: 08 July 07 so I was about a month late. It poured a decent caramel-brown with a creamy tan head that faded momentarily. I could sense a bit of caramel in the aroma but the flavor wasn’t particularly sweet. Medium mouth feel. It did not have that overbearing aroma/flavor of alcohol like other Russian brews I have sampled. It was better than most of those. Acknud (792), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2007 Best before 01.04.07. Red amber with a soft head. Spiced prune aroma. Tasty light warm spice. Dark beer tastes like a winter warmer. Hint of rubber or cardboard. Sammy (4062), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 8, 2007 A serviceable dunkel. Neutral to synthetic aroma. Brown without significant head. Lighter mouthfeel filled with carbonation. Noticeable soda-like taste because of syrup. Satisfies a thirtsty summer, but would not seek out again. Much better dunkel is available.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 26, 2007 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours a clear mahogony with a moderate linen white head that faded to a film at about mid-glass and left no lacing. Pleasant sweet smelling aroma of caramel and malt. The flavor is definitely on the sweet side with plenty of caramel up front along with some malt and just a touch of maple syrup at the finish. No hops bitterness to speak of. Considering this was on a rack of beers that were on sale at 3 for $5, I wasn’t too hopeful, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. I hope the other two bottles are as good. conor23 (110), Elgin, Illinois, USA
