Mahogany color with a white head that filmed almost immediately. A bit thin bodied. The carbonation is fairly strong. The flavor is caramel malt, with something toasty added, and a suggestion of tar in the finish? Not getting a great deal of hop, but there must be some or the sugars would be killers. Pretty decent, and it would be a real winter keeper, if it was a bit thicker. Seems to develop flavor nuances as the sipping continues. Maybe the rye is responsible. asedzie (456), San Francisco, California, USA

Aroma is sugar, caramel, slightly sour. Flavor is sweetness, cake frosting, dried fruit and berries. A tiny bit of bitterness, as well. Good full mouthfeel. Has some baltic porter characteristics. Very sweet, but also some complexity. Skinnyviking (4171), Copenhagen, Denmark

Rye and reisin aroma with a touch of caramel. Caramel sweet and sugary rye fraisin plum lavor. Not much carbonation. Long and sweet aftertaste. Generally speaking too sweet for my taste. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2007 Bottle. Good malt aroma, with a lot of caramel in there. Pours a deep dark amber color, with a pretty tan head. Flavor is that of fruits - in the vein of dried dates, plums, and raisins (as another user said). It’s not partcularly great, but it’s pretty decent. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2007 Rated 2/11/06: Very average dunkel, which is fine with me. Good aroma of caramel malts, that is all I could pick up. Pours a rich amber color with a thick dissipating head that leaves no lacing. Relatively smooth mouthfeel, somewhat thin on the palate, and a good aftertaste. Flavor is solid, what your standard dark lager should be. I like this beer and the price is right so I will try to keeep a couple of these on hand. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 2, 2007 0.5L bottle pours a nice deep amber color with tan head. Aroma of dark fruit and hints of caramel. Nice. The flavor is full with shriveled plums, dates and raisins. By midway a streak of caramel enters the picture and helps create a nice medley of flavors. The taste experience ends with more dates and raisins. Tasty brew. ChrisTurner (202), Melbourne, Australia
