Apr 9, 2005 The aroma is almost identical to the doppleback I had last night. Must be me. A nice looking reddish colored beer with nice head for a couple of minutes. Flavor is very sweet but pleasant. Seemed to get a little thin late in the bottle.

Apr 6, 2005 Here is one of Baltika’s good offerings, from a brewer that is fairly unpredictable. Bottle poured an orangey-brown beer with a fluffy tan head that held on as a thick film. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. An all-malt aroma with a hint of baked pretzels. Caramel malt flavor with alcohol that, at times, seemed a little sour.

Apr 4, 2005 Smells like a porter with caramel, but this "dark" beer is actually red in color. Absolutely no head. Can certainly taste the caramel, from the start to finish. It unfortunately has a heavy, "old" feeling to it though, which drags it down.

Mar 28, 2005 Auburn brown beer with a creamy head which goes away after a while. Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty taste with notes of caramel and toffee, with a very light bitterness. Full body. A decent dunkel but perhaps a bit too sweet.

Mar 24, 2005 Poured a reddish, copper color with a medium sized, off white head that light lacing on the glass. Aroma of sickly sweet caramel, subtle roast, but predominantly sweet. Sweet malty taste, caramel and brown sugar. Rather non-descript, sweet, light spices, minimal hops, watery.

Mar 7, 2005 The appearance was perhaps the most attractive part of the beer. It poured an auburn body with a creme-colored, thick, head. The flavor was sweet, with minimum hoppiness.
