djd07 (724), Houston, Texas, USA May 1, 2008 Bottle as shown. Pours a very dark brown with a small light tan head. The aroma is roasted malt and toffee. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is roasted malt, chocolate, and licorice with a easy finish. A good porter from Baltika. daniele (1642), Italy Apr 30, 2008 scura schiuma media medio peristenza sentori tostari maltati caramello buon tenore alcolico corpo medio bilanciata tra dolce ed amaro Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 27, 2008 A- Upon first look this brew is a deep black, when held up to the light a dark maroon color is seen. Semi-thick brown head which fades quickly leaving little to no lacing
S- Coffee, Sweet Dark fruits... I could swear I smell a hint of grapes.
T- Starts with very little taste finishes strong. Coffee, strange semi sweet fruit taste that doesnt sit very well.
M- very little carbonation, fairly thick.
D- I find this one hard to drink. It doesn’t taste particularly strong but just rubs me the wrong way mouthfeel and taste wise.
Quack-Duck (3129), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Apr 23, 2008 bottle. Clear black colour, medium-size creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt. Full-bodied, sweet and malty with flavours of roasetd malt and caramel. Well-balanced, not too sweet, well rounded with a bitter-sweet and lingering finish. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA Apr 22, 2008 Best by 24.05.07...oops. Served at cellar temp, it pours black with ruby highlights and a loose, frothy, beige head. On the nose are chocolate and dark roast with fruity wine-like undertones. Light to medium-bodied and almost creamy with a roasted, moderately bitter finish that includes a touch of alcohol warmth. Sweet, chocolaty, roasted malt with a noticeable hop bitterness blending into the roasted finish. It lingers sweet and roasty with notes of burnt sugar and bittering hops. Perhaps, it’s a tad sweeter than I might prefer, but it is a tasty brew. At less than $2 for a 500 ml bottle, it’s also quite a bargain. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA Apr 18, 2008 Black with a decent sized tan head. Aroma of toasted malt and sugar. Flavor is sweet and malty with lots of toasted malt character, some coffee. Very little hop presence. Not bad, but a touch thin. mirjukka (695), LOHJA, Finland Apr 15, 2008 at home bottle GLRBF 300308. Blindtest Thanks Anna & FatPhil

Needs re-rate!! JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Apr 14, 2008 Pours a pitch black with a sandy big head, which lasts medium-long. Lacing is outstanding however. Smells sweet, brown sugar, soy sauce, alcohol. Taste is a little too sweet for me, chocolate, cheap pancake syrup, right up the same Soviet alley as the other beers I’ve tried recently. Cloying and unenjoyable, with a bottle this large, the negative effect is rammed down my throat with successive swigs. I think I will stop at Baltika #6.
