Bottle. Pours a very dark brown. Some red highlights here and there, but very dark. Huge light-caramel colored head, with brief, cotton-like lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, vanilla, roasted chocolate. Flavor is pretty varied. Caramel, chocolate, bark, toffee, licorice. A watery aftertaste that almost distracts from the flavor. Sticky, soft body. Well-balanced, and one of the easier Baltic porters to drink. Definitely enjoyable.

0.5L bottle pours dark brown-ness with tall froth tan head and nice lacing. The aroma seems roasty at first with an edge of astringency. Then it becomes sweeter cut with mild burnt malts. As I dig a little deeper into the nose I get some dark fruity esters and faint chocolate malts. First impression is the flavor is just flat out nice. It hits with a bit of roastiness, malt sweetness molasses and burn malts. Then faint malt astringency appears before mild dark fruity esters and chocolate malts arrive to usher the taste toward the finish. It ends roasty, semi sweet and burnt.

Dark, good looking brew belies the danger that waits underneath. Tastes very thick with and almost licorice schnappes flavoring. Unfortunately, the bile like after taste ruins the whole experience and it just gets worse the more you drink.

Bottled (thanks FatPhil & SaintMatty). Extremely dark brown colour with big beigeish brown creamy head. Some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, milk chocolate, some dark fruits and mild notes of metal. Flavour is roasted malts, some mild alcohol, vanilla chocolate and also coffee. Mildly acidic notes also. Aftertaste is wooden, roasted and slightly fruity.

Aroma is heavy chocolate with some roasted malts and light hops with some nutmeg, brown sugar and a dash of soy sauce. Pours with a large brown head that covers an extremely dark brown body (practically black). Taste is for the choclate lovers, it is extremely sweet throughout with lots ’o chocolate! There is a pretty decent alcohol presence. Creamy body and lively carbonation round out this suprisingly good Russian brew.

Intense chocolate nose w/molasses. Almost jet-black, long lasting pillow of tan head. Dark caramel sweetness, alcohol cuts nicely...has good balanced bitterness. Roasted malt is just right not too overwhelming. Almost like a lighter Imperial Stout--which makes sense...First try of this style, very impressed...

Pours very dark brown with a deep red hue and a large brown head. The aroma has ice cream malt, milk chocolate, vanilla and cream. Medium slick body with fairly soft carbonation. The flavor starts lightly sour with milk chocolate, onions and dark caramel. The finish is sharper and has some frutiness. An okay porter.
