beerbiere (101), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jan 15, 2008 Dark brew topped by a nice foamy head, small bubbling and good retention. Smells of licorice, raisin, chocolate and some wood. Flavoris more on the sweet side. Creamy texture, body is lighter than an imperial stout without being thin; makes it easy to drink. My personal reference in terms of baltic porters, a very good after-dinner drink. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Jan 14, 2008 black pour with a ton of khaki froth and carbonation. roasted malts and some slight chocolate notes. very thick and malty with some dryness and a grapefruity taste. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 13, 2008 500ml bottle, best by September 9th, 2007 - oops. Based on previous Baltika experience, I can’t imagine it will matter much. Very dark brown with a big, foamy, light brown head. Big, sweet malt nose, molasses and a wisp of smoke. Rather dry, flavors are charcoal and raisin with a pop of anise, burnt malt is evident. Body is the thin side of medium. Decent lace. Far better than expected. elanni (3), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Jan 12, 2008 Bottle from D’s 6-packs & Dogz in Pittsburgh, PA. Very dark, still red-brown with a tan head of fine foam that quickly subsided. Subtle aroma of toasted malt, recurring as the dominant flavor and with growing intensity as the beer reached room temperature. Mild bitterness that also increased with temperature, I found it most enjoyable when cold. Fizzy texture with a short mellow finish. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jan 12, 2008 Updated: Feb 4, 2009500 ml, 24 03 07 production date. Opaque brown-black with ruby highlights. Large, sticky head lasts well. Dry biscuit and molasses aroma is overpowered by iron-metal in the end. Sweetish, oxidized flavor is brown sugar and molasses, with light green herb, wood and metallic notes. Light-medium body is fairly smooth. Seems more true to the style description (sweeter), but the flavor of the "real thing" is a bit disappointing to me. pepsican (883), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA Jan 7, 2008 Pours a brown mud color with a thin tan head. Sweet malts in the nose. Flavor of molasses, caramel, sugar candy, chocolate, and a bit of coffee in the flavor. Finished a bit too sweet, little carbonation, slick. Decent. swoopjones (1862), Buffalo, New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 Bottle with nice Guy Doug. Chocolty sweet nose. Cola. Light to medium body.slightly burnt smell. Slightly sweet taste with chocolate also making itself known. Decent porter but had big shoes too fill following Nogne TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Jan 4, 2008 Bottle. Light sweet, mild coffee. Average brown creamy head, mostly lasting, nearly black body. Moderate bitter start, in the middle a little bit sweeter, the aftertaste is again bitter, the taste of chocolate shines through; medium duration on the palate. Medium to full body, dry and creamy texture, soft carbonation. A nice one!
