Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2007 Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, molasses, and some dark fruits. Flavor is sweeter then most porters with molasses, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and caramel. Slightly bitter finish that lingers for only a short time. Decent porter but nowhere near the best. jonno (538), Brisbane, Australia Aug 23, 2007 Updated: Oct 1, 2009Very solid beer, strong in every sense, particularly on the nose and reasonably priced Skyview (4007), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Aug 18, 2007 Sampled during Cellar’s Wine & Spirits Friday evening beer tasting in St Paul, MN. Pours a semi-haze dark brown brew with a decent tan head that really sticks around and even has good lacing. Aroma of rich milk chocolate, campfire wood, roasted coffee and molasses. Taste is smooth, creamy with flavors of rich dark coffee, molasses, vanilla and bittersweet dark chocolate. Finish is slightly metallic semi-sweet with a roasted coffee/molasses aftertaste that lingers around after the finish. raymondwave (867), Finland Aug 18, 2007 Updated: Nov 25, 2007(Bottle from Jena, Germany). Dark body and nice thick head, which doesn’t last very long. Chocolate, roastiness, sweetness, coffee. Very thick overall. A bit too sweet maybe, but overall nicely balanced and not too burnt porter. Bitterness isn’t overwhelming. Nice! Taverner (825), San Ramon, California, USA Aug 17, 2007 Good choclatey "porter", although it drinks more like a chocolate stout. The European as opposed to Cascade hops make a big showing here. charlotte (1996), Vanløse, Denmark Aug 16, 2007 Black with floffy off-beige head.Rosted aroma taste of black berry and dry fruits.Dont feels strong as many others porter. bdigital (585), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 15, 2007 Bottle from J.K. O’Donnels. Black pour with a small cream-colored head. For a second I thought I was smelling and tasting a Raison D’extra from DFH. HUGE raisin aroma along with some strong espresso. Perhaps raisin infused coffee???? Some malt aspects and a bit of a chocolate feel to it as well. As this warmed the raisins came with their full force coup d’etat. Became pretty difficult to suck down and my wife ended up pounding the rest of it so we could leave. Oh well. Decent brew in small measures. Hotspur2001 (43), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2007 First few sips were of a full bodied roasty Porter. After that I did notice more of a taste of alcohol, and port, as mentioned below.
