Boliv (188), New York, USA Aug 20, 2009 Bottle. Poured dark brown to black with a thin head. Aroma is sweet, nutty, malty. Very smooth, with hints of caramel, sugar, a touch of coffee, and tons of roasted malts. A little bit thin. Alcohol was very well hidden. I was pleasantly surprised by this one, I’d have it again. Oscbert (531), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 10, 2009 ~Pours a light black with redish tint and big creamy brown head.
~Strong aroma of chocolate malts, cream and honey.
~Flavor of roasted malts, chocolate milk, and coffee.
~Thin feel, Sweet chocolate finish.
~Wasn’t expecting this for the price! $2 bottle. Great stuff although a bit thin. Nice malt scent and flavor. marcus (1821), Sacramento, California, USA Jul 27, 2009 This black ale poured with a generous tan head and a coffee aroma. There is a substantial roasted malt flavor with some nuts, toffee and a little chocolate. It’s pretty tasty but slightly watery. WabashMan (798), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Jul 22, 2009 Not bad, but pretty mild flavors for a porter. All the notes are there...the roastiness, the coffee and chocolate, and it’s nicely balanced between them, in that none overpower but, in truth, ALL could be stronger. dcotoi (2), USA does not count Jul 20, 2009 nutty coffee aroma, light walnut head, taste of burned malt and dark chocolate Overall a satisfying porter. beerchugger (285), Colorado, USA Jul 20, 2009 Pours a near black color, some light amber hues around the edges can be seen. Full head at first but diminishes quickly. Smells of sweet dark fruits, and rich caramel. Has a rather suprisingly sweet characteristic to it,some roasted malts are noticeable and definitely rich caramel as well. Finishes light and sweet. This a very nice take on a porter. Very enjoyable. Travlr (698), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jul 19, 2009 Served with a straw at our favorite place in Bishkek, but only available one night. Tasty sweetish and complex porter, better than we expected. Seek this one out as a better alternative to the others. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 16, 2009 Blind tasted - Poured mahogany with a little head. Smells of brown sugar, a little booze, and a little sweet malt. Not tons of flavor--some malt and a little coffee, along with some roast. Smooth, medium bodied and some decent carbonation. It’s drinkable, but pretty mediocre.
